FACTORS AFFECTING TEACHING AND LEARNING OF MATHEMATICS IN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN NIGERIA

 

 

ABSTRACT

 

This work discusses factors affecting teaching and learning of mathematics in senior secondary schools in Nigeria. A hundred and twenty questionnaires were shared amongst students and teachers from selected secondary schools in Nigeria. Interviews and surveys were also conducted.

 

Primary and secondary data were used the analysis. Both frequency distribution and regression analysis were used.

 

It was observed therefore that lack of equipped libraries and poor teachers’ motivation have a significant negative impact on the learning of mathematics in secondary schools.
